FAQ:
What do I need to bring with me on the
charter?
All fishing equipment will be supplied.
Basically, you'll need to bring whatever you will need for the trip,
such as appropriate clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, etc.
Can we eat and drink on the boat?
Yes, there is ample room to eat on the boat,
and a table in the cabin if needed. You will need to provide your own
snacks/lunch and beverages (no glass please). Alcoholic beverages are
allowed, in accordance with the law. Your safety is my responsibility,
and if anyone in your party becomes overly intoxicated, the charter will be
cut short, and the full rate will still apply. Absolutely no
illegal drugs are allowed.
Can we keep the fish we catch?
We support catch and release. That means
we will make every attempt to release all of the muskie we catch. If a
"record" fish is caught, it is up to the customer's discretion
whether or not to keep it, but we strongly encourage the release of all
muskie. We have a camera on the boat, and can take photos and
measurements of your fish, that you can take to a taxidermist for a replica,
which really last longer and look better anyway.
What if there's bad weather?
During a storm front is often the best time to
fish for muskie. However, your
safety is our responsibility, and sometimes charters must be cancelled due
to unsafe weather conditions. If the charter must be cancelled due to
weather-related problems, we will reschedule if possible.
Do I need to bring my own lures?
No. All tackle, rods, and other fishing
equipment will be supplied. We've been fishing on Lake St. Clair for
many years, and we have a good supply of lures, and all the hottest colors
and styles.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, you will need a Michigan fishing license
and probably a Canadian license. Contact Captain Jay before your trip
to see if you need a Canadian license. You can get these on line by
clicking on the links page or you can go to your local tackle shop.
Does your boat have a bathroom?
Yes, there is a portable head inside the
cabin.
Where is your boat located?
The boat is trailered to the launch closest to
the area where the captain will choose to fish. This reduces travel time for
more fishing action, reduces fuel costs and slip fee's that in the end
benefits you by keeping charter rates low.
